About Puntacana International School
Grupo Puntacana was set up over 40 years ago with a vision of creating a tourism and lifestyle destination with the desire for sustainable tourism and social responsibility towards the surrounding local community as its core values. Much of this vision has been achieved; the company has won many prizes and awards for its pioneering environmental projects and principles. It has also invested in the community through infrastructural improvements and setting up health and educational facilities.
We now have over 20 nationalities represented in our student body of 500 students ranging from Toddler 1 up to 12th grade level. Our teachers are from the Dominican Republic and also from other countries around the world, delivering a truly international experience for our students.
Puntacana International School is an educational institution recognized by the Board of Education of the Dominican Republic (SEEBAC). The School is bilingual, following the official programs of SEEBAC in all related Spanish curriculum; with the senior school following the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus for some subjects taught using English as a second language and now adheres to the U.S. Common Core State Standards meeting the curricular standards for international schools. The school is accredited by the the New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC) and The Council of International Schools (CIS).
Board of Advisors
The Board of Advisors assists the Director and school leaders, providing guidance on key issues. It advises the school in shaping its goals, strategies and priorities. It frames the basic direction of the school, and monitors the implementation of strategic plans. The Board also acts as an advocate for the school in the community.
Philosophy, Mission and Vision
PHILOSOPHY:
Puntacana International School in Dominican Republic believes in stimulating leadership that produces change, challenging the potential of both students and teachers, and the formation of human beings capable of integrating themselves into a global society.
It is based on respect towards social and ecological diversity and sustainability, delivering a high quality bilingual international education that supports their community.

Puntacana International School’s mission is to provide opportunities for students to reach academic and moral excellence through a high quality education that develops socio-ecological concerns, leadership and an enterprising spirit in its students.
VISION:
To become recognized nationally and internationally for our multicultural bilingual education, socio-ecological work, entrepreneurial leadership and respect for diversity.
Accreditation
As well as being accredited by the Dominican Board of Education (SEEBAC), PCIS is accredited with two educational agencies: New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS). They are both recognized institutions known for their high standards of excellence in international education and accreditation.
This process involves self-reflection, peer review-work and best practices as integral components of its assessment process; it monitors follow-up endeavors that lead to continuous school/program improvement.
